Trade body link has string of benefits for Somerset Pest Control firm

A Somerset company has described linking up with a leading trade body as a demonstration of its professional approach.

West Country Pest Control Ltd has this week joined the British Pest Control Association – the biggest UK trade body representing organisations involved in the eradication of public health pests.

Managing Director Lee Bullen insists the move will deliver significant benefits to both the company and its customers.

He said: “BPCA promotes the highest standards of professionalism within the industry and every business must prove its competence before membership is accepted.

“Joining the association therefore delivers an assurance, both to customers and ourselves that we’re meeting high standards in everything we do.

“It’s likely to provide us with new business opportunities along with a network of communications tools, while we’re also entitled to technical support, business guidance and help with documentation and legislation.

“It’s a win-win situation both for us and our clients and we’re delighted to be on board.”

West Country Pest Control Ltd has been trading in the Somerset and Dorset area for several years and now employs 3 staff.

Simon Forrester, chief executive of BPCA, said: “It makes good sense for any professional pest management company to join the leading trade association in the UK.

“We provide services and support that can be crucial to a company like West Country Pest Control”

“We promote best practice in an industry that can be complicated and play a major role in enhancing standards by creating guidelines, developing training programmes and exams, producing publications or research and running exhibitions and conferences.”

Every business keen to join BPCA must abide by strict Codes of Practice and prove they hold relevant liability insurances. They must also be measured against the European Standard for Pest Management Services, which acts as a benchmark of quality throughout Europe.

Every technician employed by member companies must also hold specific industry-recognised qualifications and take part in a Continuing Professional Development scheme such as BASIS PROMPT.
